Case Studies

With prestigious clients such as The Prime Minister and none other than Her Majesty the Queen, here at Balloon Fairies we work to the highest standards.

Do we just turn up, get on with it and go home?

Not quite, we really care that your event is a success so we work with you every step of the way. We have collated a selection of case studies so you can get an idea of our attention to detail and knowledge that can only be gained from years of experience in the events industry.

(Also because we are very proud of our portfolio and want to show off!!!)

Balloon Fairies at Downing Street and The House of Commons!

With prestigious clients such as The Prime Minister and none other than Her Majesty the Queen, the Balloon Fairies work to the highest standards.
December 2005
Kim and the Balloon Fairies crew have been invited back annually to The House of Commons staff party hosted by Mr Keith Vaz and Downing Streets star studded charity Christmas parties since her debut in 2005.

Kim was first invited to No.11 Downing Street's Christmas party in aid of "Shine Charity" in December 2005.
Being one of few face painters who paint in character with stunning costumes, the Arabian theme was no problem and she arrived in style much to the children's delight as a face painting Arabian Princess!

Her performance was such a success that she was asked back in 2006 but with much more involvement and responsibility plus taking more of the Balloon Fairies team along too.

Wow, what a huge honour - not many fairies can claim to have met Tony Blair and Gordon Brown when they were in power, the current Prime Minister David Cameron, appeared in national newspapers, on Sky TV with Chancellor Darling and featured in a documentary partying with chart topping girl band The Saturdays!

Kim Jackson aka DJ Glitterbelle's wealth of experience in events and versatility as a Compere / DJ / Dancer / All-round Entertainer has shone through even when under pressure at prestigious venues such as The House of Commons and Downing Street.

She has been described as 'the glue that holds everything together' playing the appropriate music for the event (very important!), welcoming guests and chatting on the mic, whilst really getting the party going leading fun dance routines suitable for all ages to enjoy.

A lot of charity parties have little guests who are either very poorly, have disabilities or behavioural problems, all Balloon Fairies performers are very sensitive to making sure that all children are made to feel special, at ease and have the best party ever!

Working alongside LHR, Balloon Fairies have created a mobile Arts and Crafts station better known as the 'fun cart' which has been a real hit during peak times when lots of children are travelling throughout the holidays. Adapted to compliment promotions running in the terminals or perhaps to celebrate fun times of year, such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas. The fun cart has amused young passengers whether they have as little as 2 minutes to spare and are about to jump on an aeroplane or 2 hours if they have been delayed - a new unique service which has been very welcomed by many stranded parents - 'What a fantastic idea!' 'You are an angel!' 'THANKYOU so much!!' are all lovely comments we hear on a regular basis at London Heathrow Airport and long may they continue!

Terminal 2 Trials

Due to Balloon Fairies continued success and valued working relationship with London Heathrow Airport, we were very proud to provide entertainment for the milestone event in the airports history in preparation for the opening of Terminal 2. This involved entertaining 3000 guests who were invited to act as real life passengers for a number of trial days testing every aspect of the brand new 2.5 billion Queens Terminal's capacity in preparation to serve 30 million passengers per year ...a huge task!

Balloon Fairies were proud to entertain 3000 guests in preparation for London Heathrow Airport's Terminal 2 opening

Despite very early (or as we would say stupid o'clock!) starts all of our acts showed up bright eyed and bushy tailed in 'Best of British' attire creating a real buzz around the terminal and soaking up the amazing party atmosphere. Magicians, Balloon Artists, Jugglers, Stilt Walkers, Caricaturists, Crown Making Workshops, everybody involved did a stirling job, agreed that it was one of the most unique events that they had ever been part of, we basically all had a blast! Terminal 2 was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 4th June 2014. We are delighted to offer ongoing pre-flight entertainment for young passengers at this exciting new addition to London Heathrow Airport.

The Balloon Fairies team were honoured and delighted to be part of the celebrations for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Face painting in the sunshine at Hyde Park and Eton Dorney, flags of countries from all over the world on the faces of people from all over the world was pretty fantastic ... even the Police joined in the fun AND we got to meet popstar Lemar and Soul II Soul legend Jazzy B!! We have such fond memories of the summer of 2012 here are just a few pictures that capture some of the fun we had with some of the lovely people we met.

The Grove Hotel, Hertfordshire

The Balloon Fairies have created complete fun packed programs of activities and entertainment for the children residing at this luxury venue over the festive periods since 2006. 'The Elf Workshop' kept kids of all ages amused for the duration giving the parents a bit of free time to enjoy all the facilities, although they seemed to want to join in the fun at The Circus Workshop and The Mini Disco!

The Cheeky Elves even provided mix and mingle entertainment for their excited guests during Christmas dinner. On Boxing Day to conclude a successful stay at The Grove each of their little friends were awarded with their well earned Elf School Certificate to much whooping and cheering.

It was then time to share a farewell magic handshake and the Elves went merrily on their way.

Twinkle appears on GMTV with Cheggers!

Very early in the morning on Christmas Eve 2008 a car arrives at Twinkle's castle to whisk her and the Cheeky Elf away to the GMTV studio in London - how exciting!
They appeared in 5 comedy sketches exchanging witty banter with Keith Chegwin and they gave away £50,000 to a very lucky GMTV viewer - Merry Christmas!

England's Official Face Painters at Wembley Stadium

Bibi Freeman is an award winning face and body artist whom Balloon Fairies hold in very high regard so when she asked us to be part of "England's Official Face Painters" at Wembley we jumped at it! A team of 50 artists painted the football supporters with their chosen team's flag before the matches, great atmosphere, great fun - you could hardly call it work and they got to meet Jamie Theakston which made them very happy!

SFX make up artist

The diversity of the enquiries received at Balloon Fairies HQ is pretty vast - we never know where or with whom we'll be working with next!
One of the most unusual requests (so far!) came from Nick Bishop a forensic photographer for The Metropolitan Police. Nick booked one of our make up artists to perform Special FX make up on a dummy - simulating a bullet wound and casualty make up.
This project was prompted by Home Secretary Jackie Stewart's visit to a London mortuary, it was the first time that cameras had ever been allowed to film inside and a real corpse could not be shown on TV for legal reasons.
Our casualty simulated dummy was featured in numerous news reports including London Tonight with Ronke Phillips.

Channel 5 News - "Has the Bubble finally burst on property?"

Another bizarre request came from Channel 5 News. They featured a HUGE bubble floating up into the sky and then popping to create a visual for a report "has the bubble finally burst on property?". The bubble in question was created by a Balloon Fairies Bubble artist who had a fun afternoon creating various gigantic bubbles which the crew then filmed and was later shown on Channel 5 News.

Children's Party at The Palace - Her Majesty's 80th Birthday celebration

Objective: Facepaint 3000 guests in 2 hours at THE party of the century and provide theatrical fantasy make up for thirty Fairy Performers.

This was certainly the biggest party we'd been invited to and our biggest challenge to paint 3000 kids in just 2 hours but WE DID IT!!!

Balloon Fairies in collaboration with our dear friend Lynn at Face-FX created the master plan for the all important day in question, Sunday 25th June 2006. We knew that the artists would want to showcase their face-art masterpieces at Buckingham Palace but because of the volume of kids we would have to work super fast, our priority was to paint the optimum amount of our excited little guests. So stencils were the answer, quick, effective and it allowed all 30 artists to produce exactly the same design over and over again - in this case bespoke stencils custom made of the crown - the logo for the event.

As if that wasn't enough to think about, prior to the start of the party it was our pleasure to provide theatrical make up for the Fairy Performers doing what we do best - beautiful Face Painting.

ING Direct Summer Events

After providing a quality and reliable service to ING Direct over the past few years we were delighted to be involved in their busy schedule of events throughout the summer of 2006. This involved providing teams of Face Painters and Balloon Artists at the most beautiful gardens in the UK for The Royal Horticultural Society, Swanage Regatta and the famous Hampton Court Flower Show. These were all busy venues so it was vital that we did a lot of planning prior to the events, with a system in place for the queues, professional air inflators to speed up the inflation of the balloons along with making sure the balloon artists were recognised as part of ING Direct. Costumes were designed and all balloon sculptures complemented ING's corporate colours. We had so many compliments about the stunning Face Painting - every day kids were coming back again and again. At one point we had two teams simultaneously at RHS Wisley, Surrey and RHS Harlow Carr, N.Yorks for two weeks every day for six hours, all of our artists involved were as enthusiastic and fabulous as they were on day one when others could have easily snapped under the pressure! It's imperative at events of this scale for all involved to be prepared, professional, experienced and to work as a team. We believe that's what makes Balloon Fairies so very special.

Peter Jones Sloane Square London

School Holiday Entertainment

Twinkle and Sparkle the original Balloon Fairies have been providing Balloon modelling and fun at Peter Jones or as they fondly refer "PJ's" for 5 years.

With themed costumes for each season whether it's Easter, Halloween or Christmas they always come dressed accordingly and are particularly a breath of fresh air during the stressful end of summer holidays "back to school" promotion, entertaining the children whilst they wait to be fitted for their school shoes and uniforms. The Balloon Fairies have built up a great rapport with the young customers who now come in store especially to visit them in the school holidays.

Team Building Exercise

After a heavy day of training the department managers of Peter Jones were thrilled to accept our team building challenge with hilarious results - a Balloon Modelling Workshop and then to perform their designs against the clock in front of fellow colleagues!

It was a great success, really brought everybody out of their shells, and surprisingly displayed people's personalities in a fun-filled environment with a much needed break from the facts and figures of their training programme.
